Aldershot Farnham & District’s trio of under-15 girls took the title at the English Road Running Association’s national relay championships on Saturday. Poppy Guest took over from Tilly Robertson, who completed the first leg in sixth, and clocked the third fastest time overall as she moved up to second.
Kitty Scott, chased by Chelmsford’s Jorjia March who finished second to her in the junior race at the English Schools Cross Country Championships, overtook Zoe Allan who had set off in the lead for Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow. March also passed Allan but failed by seven seconds to catch the AFD athlete. AFD’s B team of Katie McBride, Otelia Garcia Davis and Naomi Walmsley was eighth of the 55 teams that finished the race at Sutton Coldfield.
The club’s u17 women came away with a set of silver medals. After legs by Maya Jobbins and Lottie Quinn, Katie Pye commenced the last leg in fifth. She passed Luhane Smith (WSEH) and Sophia Nation (Salford Harriers) while recording the second fastest time overall but, nearly a minute ahead, Ellarose Whitworth was recording the third fastest to hold Lincoln Wellington’s lead.
AFD came fourth in the senior women’s four-stage championship with Harriet Preedy, Kate Estlea-Morris, Niamh Brown and Millie Jordan-Lee. The senior men were fifth in their six-stage contest (Liam Stone, Tom Chandler, Owen Smith, Joseph O’Connell, Sam Eglen and Will Barnicoat).
