Aldershot Farnham & District’s senior runners won team and individual titles in both the women’s and men’s events at the Surrey Cross Country Championships in Dorking on Sunday. Niamh Brown led Georgie Bruinvels and Nancy Scott to a clean sweep of the individual medals while Emily Wicks in seventh ensured a commanding team victory. Sam Eglen led Joe Morwood, the bronze medallist, Rian McCawley, tenth, Thomas Renshaw, thirteenth, Stephen Blake, eighteenth, and Jake Bowles, 23rd, to the team title. AFD had three other individual gold medallists: Pippa Roessler (under 20 women), Kitty Scott (u13 girls) and James Dargan (u17 men).
At the Hampshire Championships in Curdridge on Saturday, Louise Small led from the start for her sixth senior title. Woody Jerome won the u20 men’s competition from Ryan Martin while Alfie Mumford’s fifth place meant that AFD were the only club with the three finishers required for the team awards. The same happened in the u20 women’s race where Ruby Horton, the individual bronze medallist, led Emma Boswell and Milly Bacon to the only team medals awarded. There was one other individual gold medallist for AFD when Austin Soane kept his Over-65s title
