First Hampshire Cross Country League

Two runners from Aldershot Farnham & District’s winning side at the previous weekend’s English Cross Country Relays battled for victory in the senior women’s race at Saturday’s Hampshire League.  Niamh Brown finally prevailed by one second over Lauren Hall and when Pippa Roessler crossed the line in third, she completed a perfect score for AFD.  Roessler led the club to victory in the under-20s’ section where she was supported by Imogen King and Emma Boswell.

The senior men also triumphed and were led by the individual winner.  Jack Rowe, fastest in last month’s English Road Relays, beat Winchester & District’s Stuart McCallum by 26 seconds before Ben Bradley (third), Luke Prior (fourth), Alex Pointon (eighth) and Stephen Blake (tenth) combined for a points’ total which was less than half that of the five scorers who formed Southampton’s second-placed team.
