Congratulations to Andy Vernon on winning 10K at the Payton Jordon Invitational at Standford, California in a time of 27min 42.62seconds well inside the Rio Qualification Standards of 28 mins. In the womens 5K Steph Twell ran 15min 13.82 inside the Rio Olympic qualifing time of 15min 20seconds.
AFD travelled to Braunton with 5 women and 4 men and finished 4th overall. The women’s team included: Sarah-Jane Anthony who did hammer, discus and shot, despite being injured! Andy with his now trade mark fast finish took Silver behind Mo in the European 10,000m and then went on to take Bronze in the 5,000m. The first time an AFD athlete has gained 2 medals at the same games.
