British Masters Championships

Several AFD Masters athletes made the journey north to Derby at the weekend to compete in the British Masters Athleteics Championships with some excellent performances and collecting several medals.

Allan Leiper competing in several events secured gold in the M60 Pole Vault, silver in the M60 shot and bronze in the M60 discus. In the middle distance events Mark Symes was also in action taking silver in the M50 800m and gold in the 1500m. There was more success over in the sprints. After recently breaking the W65 club records in both the 100m and 200m back in May, Angela Owen took silver in the 100m behind the current reigning British record holder Helen Godsell. In the 400m, Kelly Roberts competing in the W45 age group took bronze in a seasons best. Whilst out in the discus Helen Wilson competing in the W60 age group improved her club record to 17.75m.
