AFD Top Club at National CC Championships

The top cross country runners made there way to Bolesworth Castle on Saturday 25th Feb, including a large contingent from AFD. While the athletes performed extremly well, the AFD chair had a camera malfuction so this report has only a few pictures

European junior cross country champion Will Barnicoat retained his national title as he led fellow Aldershot Farnham & District runners to team silver at Chester on Saturday.  Barnicoat crossed the line 47 seconds before the runner-up, Ben Brown of Southampton, in their ten-kilometre race where he was backed up by Joseph O’Connell, seventeenth, Raphael  Rivero-Stevenet, 41st, and Tom Chandler, 45th.

AFD had two team victories, both led by individual silver medallists.  Kitty Scott finished two seconds behind Jorjia March of Barnet & District in the under-13 girls’ event but achieved a gold medal with Tilly Robertson who was eighth, Jess Allen (nineteenth) and Katie McBride (twentieth). 

James Dargan finished seven seconds behind Henry Dover of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers in the u17 men’s race while his gold medal was gained with the aid of Jacob Pearce (30th), Luca Hamblen (50th) and Alex Bishop (58th).


The junior women’s team of Alice Garner, ninth, Pippa Roessler, 21st, and Niamh McLoughlin, 35th, brought AFD a set of silver medals as did the senior women’s team of Louise Small, 20th, Nancy Scott, 23rd, Niamh Brown, 25th, and Kate Estlea, 29th.  Katie Pye, in eighth place, led Lottie Quinn (30th), Maya Jobbins (57th) and Tori Waller (110th) to fifth in the u15 girls’ competition.
