AFD shine at National 20,000m Championships

AFD had 2 representatives compete at the UKA, England Athletics and Race Walking combined 20,000m track championships, held at the Leeds Beckett Track on the 10th June. The weather offered blisteringly hot conditions, 27 degrees where Abi Jennings and Chris Snook, both first year senior athletes contend the 50 laps of the track to cover the 20,000m race distance. There were younger age group 10,000m racers also on the track, offering some competition during the gruelling repetition of 400m laps. Chris, struggled with a groin strain in the latter stages, finished to be crowned UKA, England and RWA Champion in an acceptable 1.35.10.08. Abi raced with growing confidence and exceptional consistency averaging 5.24 finishing with a seasons best of 1.47.50.23 winning the English title, 3rd in UKA and RWA to British Internationals Heather Warner (Nee Lewis) and Bethan Davies both Welsh.
