AFD at the National Cross Country 2024

Niamh Brown ran to victory in the senior women’s race at the English Cross Country Championships near Telford on Saturday.  In contention from the start, she finished eighteen seconds clear of Cambridge Harrier Holly Dixon as she led Aldershot Farnham & District to gold in the team event with Millie Jordan -Lee, who was eleventh, Katriona Brown 25th and Laura Gent 31st.

This was one of three team victories for the club at a meeting postponed from February.  The junior men won with Tom Chandler eighth, Liam Stone eleventh, Matthew Pickering twelfth and Rafe Man 24th.  Owen Smith, ninth, Jacob Pearce, twentieth, Thomas Rollins, 28th, and Oliver Russell, 52nd, gave AFD the win in the under-17 men’s competition.  The u15 girls took silver when the combined positions of Katie McBride (eleventh), Maya Jobbins (twelfth), Katie Ealden (nineteenth) and Tilly Robertson (20th) left them with a score just four points more than the total accumulated by winners Chelmsford.
