After working our way through the travel requirement, tests and location forms 2 AFD teams, 4 for the womens championships and two men and 2 women for the mixed relay arrived at Oeiras just west of Lisbon, Portrugal to represemt the UK.at the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country.
The first to run was the womens team which cosisted of 3 laps to give a course of 6.4Km. The AFD quartet got away from the starting pens well to the fore

While the course was dry, it was twisty and sandy as well as having a few hills making it a challenging course. The first 3 AFD runners Steph Twell 9th, Louise Small 16th and Niamh Brown 22 were the scoring team which came 5th ably backed up by Emily Wicks in 38th place.
The last race of the day the Mixed gender relay saw the AFD quartet in the mix at the front of the race with lead runner Ellis Cross challenging the leader but finally handing over 3rd to Lily Coward who handed over 2nd to Ricky Harvie who handed over 3rd to Amy Griffiths finishing in 4th place. A fighting race from AFD.
