Aldershot Farnham & District runner Katie Pye won the under-15 girls’ title at the South of England Cross Country Championships on Saturday. She overhauled Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow’s Ella Davey about fifty yards from the finish to win by two seconds. Two AFD athletes claimed silver medals. Niamh Brown led Georgie Bruinvels (seventh), Lauren Hall (eleventh) and Laura Gent (31st) to the senior women’s team title and was beaten only by Reading AC’s Jess Gibbon who came eleventh in December’s European Championships. U20 women’s runner-up Pippa Roessler also gained a team silver as she was backed by Emma Boswell, 34th, Milly Bacon, 43rd, and Ruby Horton, 44th. Kitty Scott, fifth, Tilly Robertson, seventh, Charlotte Mitchell, 39th, and Martha Cruikshanks, 50th, formed the AFD quartet that took bronze medals in the u13 girls’ race.
