England Cross Country Championships
Will Barnicoat won the junior men’s title at the English National Cross Country Championships and led Aldershot Farnham & District’s runners to the team title at Parliament Hill Fields, London on Saturday. He surged away from the opposition on the second lap of the ten-kilometre race to win by eleven seconds from David Stone of Shaftesbury Barnet, one of his predecessors as under-17s champion. Joe Blacknell finished nineteenth, Woody Jerome 31st and Alastair Rushforth 49th to give AFD victory over silver medallists Chesterfield & District. The junior women were also victorious. Fourth-placed Alice Garner, Pippa Roessler (thirteenth) and Ruby Horton (48th) beat Tonbridge into second.

British Indoors – Birmingham
Chris Snook, off the back of English 10,000m track champion 2 weeks ago, today demonstrated a technically strong win at the British Indoor Championships 3,000m walk held on 27th February in Birmingham with a PB 12.27.27 dominating the race. Whereas Abigail Jennings, had a harder challenge racing in a tight pack for the medals. Abi stuck with the group, working and battled hard, was the strongest technically finished in a photo finish just outside the medals with a huge PB in 14.24.72
Well done both to all AFD athletes who competed.
