A few AFD Vets travelled to the BMAF XC Champs at Bath University on Sunday 13th 6th March. The flat, parkland course suited the track specialists as there was scant mud to squelch through and little in the way of testing hills although the long drag on each lap caught up with some by lap 3. Ruth Jones was our sole AFD runner in the first race and after a steady start finished strongly for a fine 5th place in the V35-39 category and 24th overall. The mens race, held over 5 miles, resulted in an individual bronze for Austin Soane in the V60-64 age group finishing 53rd overall and a V45-54 team bronze for Scott Smith-Bannister 4th, Tad Dicker 7th and Chris Try gaining his first major medal in 16th. Overall Scott was 8th, Tad 13th and Chris 42nd. A number of others competed in the BMAF indoor track Championships on Sunday too. All competed in the 3000m and all medalled: Darren Symes 1st V45-49/ 9.23.76 SB Paul Gaylor 3rd V45-49/ 9.46.26 PB Nick Jacobs 3rd V40-44/ 939.17 PB A great weekends racing from the AFD Vet's squad.
