A trio of runners from Aldershot Farnham & District led all the way to retain the under-15 girls’ title at the South of England Cross Country Relay Championships on Saturday. Maya Jobbins, Katie Pye and Lottie Quinn finished 45 seconds clear of Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow. Kitty Scott, Tilly Robertson and Jess Allen also led at the end of their legs to win the u13 girls’ title by 22 seconds.
Both Niamh McLoughlin and Ruby Horton were second on the first two legs of the junior women’s race before Pippa Roessler anchored them to victory by 54 seconds over City of Norwich. The senior women were third after Lauren Hall’s opener. Millie Jordan-Lee put them in pole position which Maddie Jordan-Lee held on the anchor, 23 seconds ahead of local side Thames Valley Harriers.
Dan Shattock put AFD into the frame on the second leg of the u17 men’s event, having taken over from Alex Bishop in eleventh place. Jacob Pearce went to the front on the last leg and managed to hold off Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow’s Joshua Mingoia, the area steeplechase champion in this age group, who closed to within a second.
