It was a successful weekend for AFD’s Masters athletes at the 2025 British Masters Track and Field Championships in Derby which was held on 13-14th September with medals achieved across several events.
On the track, Mark Symes dominated the M55 1500m to secure gold with an outstanding season’s best performance.
Dan Acheson and Brian Stopher also put in strong performances in the M40 and M45 1500m categories respectively, with Dan Acheson also placing 5th in the 800m.
Lucy Wright made her mark in the 1500m with a W40 silver medal for her Masters Championship debut.
Karen Andrews took gold with her sterling performance in the W40 2000m steeplechase, setting a new AFD club record and UK lead, and added silver in the triple jump.
Over in the sprints Angela Owen medalled in the W65 100m and 200m collecting a bronze and silver. Whilst Paul Roker picked up a silver in the M75 200m and 2 golds in the 300m hurdles and 80m hurdles.
In the field events, Allan Leiper delivered double silver in the M65 discus and the shot.
