Track and Field Update

2-4 May 2015 – BUCS
Several AFD athletes competed at Bedford over the Bank Holiday weekend in their various university colours collecting 2 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes. Amy Griffiths took gold in the 1500m with Lily Partridge picking up bronze not far behind. Louise Small picked up silver over the 5000m and Jonathan Hay a gold in the 10000m. Laura Gent ran a PB to take bronze in the 2000sc. Reigning outdoor and indoor BUCS champion over 400m Amy Allcock ran a swift time in her heat only to have to unfortunately pull out of the final rounds due to injury – we wish her a speedy recovery. Other AFD performances as follows:-

Toby Starling – 1500m 8th Heat
Sofie Kent – 1500m 10th Semi Final
Susan Shiel-Rankin – 1500m 11th Semi Final
Beth Hubbard – 1500m 11th Semi Final
Jack Rowe – 5000m 13th Final
Grace Baker 5000m 7th Final
Charlie Critchley 3000msc 8th Heat

3 May 2005 – U13/U15 YDL – Carlshalton
AFD travelled to Carlshalton for their first match of the season and made a promising start finishing 2nd. There were some superb performances with some personal bests. Christopher Horlock jumped an excellent 1.68m in the high jump to take him 25th on the U15 UK rankings. AFD were dominate in the boys U13 and U15 sprints with winning performances from Oliver Nicolson, Henry McGoldrick , Sam Clifton. Over in the longer distances Ryan Martin, Eion Canning, Harry Hyde, Edward Henderson, Bailey Roberts and Joseph Jakubait also produced winning results. In the field events George Asprey came 1st in the shot, Daniel Hagart 1st in the Javelin, Harry Asprey 1st High Jump. Not to be outdone, the girls also produced some notable winning performances including Charlotte Parsons and Alice Garner winning the A & B 1200m and Ellie Head in the Javelin.

Hampshire Combined Events Championships.
On May Day Bank Holiday several young AFD athletics took part in the Multi Event Champs with Maisie Grice picking up a silver in the U17 Pentathlon.
