Isobel Pooley of Aldershot, Farnham & District set a meeting record of 1m 90 for the high jump at the Hampshire championships on Saturday.  The silver medallist from last year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow had already claimed the championship best when clearing 1m 85, three centimetres above the mark set by another Commonwealth silver medallist (Kuala Lumpur, 1998), Jo Jennings.

Other gold medallists from AFD at Portsmouth over the weekend included Tim Snook (under-20 men’s walk), Jack Boswell (u17 men’s 3000 metres), Chris Snook (u17 men’s walk), Ollie Nicholson (u15 boys’ 100), Sue Davies (senior women’s walk), Emma Broadey (senior women’s javelin), Evie Grice (u20 women’s 400 & 800), Maisie Grice (u17 women’s 800 & 300 hurdles), Lucy Pygott (u17 women’s 1500 & 3000), Abigail Jennings (u17 women’s walk), Mia Loten (u15 girls’ walk), Charlotte Parsons (u13 girls’ 1500) and Ruby Horton (u13 girls’ walk).
Meanwhile, in the Surrey championships at Kingston, there were titles for George Gathercole (u20 men’s 3000), Charlie Kershaw (u15 boys’ 3000), Samuel Clifton (u13 boys’ long jump), George Asprey (u13 boys’ discus), Katie Shiel-Rankin (u20 women’s 1500 & 3000) and Eugenie Cockle (u17 women’s 1500 & 3000).
