British Masters Championships
10th – 11th August 2019
Masters sprinters Angela Owen and Eni Font Friede were also in action at the British Masters Championships. Angela claimed two silvers in the W60 age group 100m and 200m. Whilst Eni returning from injury picked up bronze in the W55 100m. Over in the field events Allan Leiper picked up silver in the M55 shot putt and a bronze in both the High Jump and Javelin. Stephen Ford claimed bronze in the hammer M65. Ian Bridgeman placed 4th in the Triple Jump.
South of England AA U13 / U15 / U17 Championships
17-18 Aug 19
At Ashford there were several athletes in action at the South of England Championships. Emily Lucas took victory in the U13 100m clocking a speedy 13.33secs despite the -3.4 headwind. Over in the walks Nicholas Hart, Lois Carty and Abigail Jennings all picked up golds. Both Nicholas Hart and Lois Carty won the 3000m walk in the ladies and men’s U17 events, whilst Abigail Jennings came 1st in the U20 5000m walk. Stepping up an age group veteran athlete Sue Davies was also in action placing a very respectable 4th in the Senior Womens 5000m walk. Hurdler Ella Manning claimed silver over the U17 80m hurdles in 11.76secs. U13 sprinter Troy Over competed in three events over the weekend placing 4th in his 100m heat, 5th in the 200m final and 7th in the Long Jump. In the U17 1500m Ryan Martin placed 7th in his heat.
British Championships Birmingham 24-25 Aug 19
AFD had eight athletes compete at the British Championships in Birmingham. AFD had two sprinters in action, Luke Dorrell came 6th in his heat in the 200m in 21.69secs. While Amy Allcock clocked 52.89secs for 5th in the final of the 400m. Elsewhere in the distance events, Ricky Harvie placed 9th in the 1500m with 3:53.16. Ben Bradley finished 6th in the 5000m recording 14:19.73. In the women’s event Louise Small placed 11th with 16:15.13. AFD had two athletes in the 3000m steeplechase, Nancy Scott came 4th in 10:47.88 and Maisie Grice was 6th in 10:58.89. In the walks Abigail Jennings placed 6th in 26:17.03.
England Athletics U15 / U17 Championships Bedford 31 Aug-1 Sep 19
The England U15 and U17 Championships were held in Bedford. Both Nicholas Hart and Ella Manning had success picking up gold medals. Ella Manning has improved the U17 80m hurdles club record several times this season and clocked a wind assisted 11.35secs to take first place. Whilst race walker Nicholas Hart took 1st in the U17 5000m walk in 27:41.40. In the U15 3000m walk Charlotte Wallis placed 5th in 18:15.89. Competing in the U17 1500m Pippa Roessler came 10th in 4:46.05 and Ryan Martin placed 13th in the men’s event in 9:23.04. Emma Fidgett and Isabel Walton were also in action in the U17 80m hurdles placing 5th and 7th in their heats respectivly
