Aldershot, Farnham & District’s under-17 women won the National road relay title at Sutton Coldfield on Sunday. They hit the front on the second leg where Lucy Pygott, having taken over from Tabitha Bowden in eighth place, ran what turned out to be equal fourth fastest time of the race. Third fastest was Niamh Brown who increased the lead from 36 seconds to fifty at the finish. AFD’s B team of Tilly Horton, Stacey Burrows and Eugenie Cockle came eighth.
The club’s other medals were bronze for the u17 men. Robbie Coupland completed the opener in thirteenth before Jack Boswell promoted their team to fourth with the eighth fastest time of the day. Anchorman Jake Cvetkovic was fifth fastest, reaching the line three seconds after Peter Cook clinched the silver medals for Reading, eighteen seconds behind Tonbridge’s Ally Kinloch who had clocked the second best time..
AFD’s u13 boys were fifteen seconds away from the medals when finishing fifth with a trio of Ed Henderson, Ryan Martin and Alfie Spear. Harry Hyde was sixth fastest overall while gaining seventeen places on the second leg for the club’s B team. In Saturday’s senior events, both the women (Katie Shiel-Rankin, Daisy D’Santos, Grace Baker and Louise Small) and men (Jamie Ashton, Gus Cockle, Jack Rowe, Matt Arnold, Alex Pointon and Joe Morwood) were eighth.
