On a blustery Sunday AFD attended the London Open Walks where the squad took the team titles for Senior and Junior Women and the overall Reg Jacobs Trophy awarded for the greatest accumulation of points for all competitions finished in one team.
First out was u11 Megan Packett who won her race with a massive personal best of 6.12 over 1km and gained an overall 2nd beating all but one of the boys. Next up was the u13 and u15 2km which suffered from a deterioration in weather impacting times. First home was Nick Hart (u15) racing hard continuing to improve at every race, achieved a personal best in 12.31. In the girls race Izzy Elliott (u13) fought hard in the wind to be first in for AFD finishing with a time 13.22 followed by a brave Anna Hinchcliffe (u15) smiling as she crossed the line with a PB 13.59 and chased down by new to race walking Charlotte Wallis (u13) in 14.02.
Next up was the u17 and Senior 5km competitors Chris Snook winning convincingly in 24.08 following a period of injury now on his way to full recovery. The ladies now struggling in the deteriorating weather were bought home by Penel Cummings in 29.01, followed by Abigail Jennings in 29.58 second time under 30 minutes and final competitor Sue Davies completing the team with a respectable 33.24 despite illness earlier in the week.
AFD were able to show strength in numbers and all enjoyed the days races, all receiving collecting either a team or individual award.
