      The National XC championships are next Saturday (25th) at Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath.

      This is the biggest club championship of the season. We’re expecting everyone entered to run if they can. Please let me know asap if you’re not running.

       

      Attached a list of  the timetable for the day, a map of the start/finish area and directions for getting to Parliament Hill.

       

      How to get there

      We’re not running a coach as it is easier by public transport or to drive. If you do have a problem getting there let me know.

       

      One popular route is to drive to Richmond and catch the train to Gospel Oak (33min). At Gospel Oak, you turn left out of the station then almost immediately left into Parliament Hill. It’s very easy to find and there will be lots of other people to follow.

       

      If you do drive, parking will obviously be much busier than when the Southern is held at Parliament Hill.

       

      Arrival

      When you arrive, please come to get your tag and number from the AFD camp. Please put them on as soon as you get them.

       

      Everything takes longer at the big championships. You need to leave yourself enough time to find us, put your number on, walk the course and warm up. You’ll need at least an hour and a half before your race.

       

      At the start

      You need to be at the start 10 mins before your start time. There should be a warning gun or whistle 2 or 3 mins before your race starts. You will be asked to go through a tent to get to the start area. You can keep some kit on and pass it over the fence once you are in the start area.

       

      There will hopefully be someone at the start to collect your kit. I’ll have a roll of dustbin bags. If parents are going to the start, please volunteer to collect everyone’s kit. The kit will be returned to the AFD camp for the athletes to collect when they’ve finished.

       

      Club vests

      Ron Hill club vests/crop tops must be worn. If anyone needs a new one please let me know so I can make sure I bring one with me.

      Border League cross Country matches are open to all AFD under 15 you just have to turn up dates as below :

      Match 1 Nov 6th Lightwater Country Park (Woking course)
      Match 2 Dec 11th Lightwater Country Park (Bracknell course)
      Match 3 Jan 29th Stoke Park, Guildford
      Match 4 Mar 4th Lord Wandsworth

       

      Time table is:

      11.00  Under 9 Boy and Girls (approx 1200m)

      11.20  Under 11 Girls  (approx 1600m)

      11.35   Under 11 Boys  (approx 2500m)

      11.50  Under 13 Girls  (approx 2500m)

      12.05  Under 13 Boys  (approx 3000m)

      12.25  Under 15 Girls  (approx 3000m)

      12.40  Under 15 Boys  (approx 4000m)

      Here are the details for the last Border League Race on Sunday 4th March. And great news – there will be catering including bacon rolls!! See you then.

      Fleet and Crookham AC are pleased to be hosting the final Border League Meeting of the 2011/2012 season at Lord Wandsworth College.
       
      We will have marshalls directing cars after they enter the college grounds. Please ensure your juniors arrive in time to park and walk to the start.
       
      Directions
      By Road from M3: Junction 5, take A287 then B3349 via North Warnborough & Odiham. Past RAF station, left at bottom of hill, through Long Sutton village,
      College gates are just beyond Four Horseshoes public house.
      By Road from M4: Junction 11, take A33 south for 4 miles then B3349 to Hook, then as from M3 junction 5.
      By Road from Alton: B3349, then right just past South Warnborough, through Long Sutton village,
      College gates are just beyond Four Horseshoes public house.
      By Road from Farnham: Via A287 and Odiham, or via small roads through Dippenhall and Well.
      By Rail: Railway Stations Hook, Basingstoke, Bentley or Farnham.
       
      Attached are race times and a rough course map for you to circulate to your juniors. We will not have hares but the course is well marshalled so this should not be a problem.
       
      There will be catering including hot and cold drinks, bacon rolls and various cakes and sweets.
       
      The prize giving will be held in the Sutton Sports Hall which is beside the race start. Shoes will have to be removed before entry to the hall as the school are rather particular about this.
       
      Please note, Lord Wandsworth School operates a total smoking ban in the school and all surrounding grounds.

      Please note the Military Stadium has been booked for Football matches on the following dates:

      • Thursday 13th October
      • Thursday 10th November
      • Sunday 20th November
      • Thursday 1st December
      • Thursday 9th February
      • Thursday 12th April

      On these dates AFD use of the Military Stadium is cancelled.  However, we can use the toilets but are request to only enter through the car park and not to open any other doors to the stadium or use the stands to store kit.  Your co-operation would be greatly appreciated.
