AFD Dominate National Road Relays
The day started with a fantastic start in the under 13 boys race, with a 3rd place in the Southern championships AFD were considered to be an outside chance of a medal at National level the lads thought otherwise. While Daniel Shattock came in 15th on the first leg he was only 15 seconds of the lead. Rudi Morrell on the second leg ran the 9th fastest leg of the day to bring AFD in the lead to hand over to Ethan Scott who ran the farstest lap of the day to bring AFD home a 1 minute 30 secods over Bracknell in second place. AFD B team was 9th with the C team in 43rd from 67 teams
The AFD Under 13 girls showed a remarkable consistence between the A and C teams with the A team finishing in 15th place just 1 second ahead of the C team in 16th place, the B team finished in 49th place.
In the Under 15 boys race AFD A team came 6th with the C and B team sperated by 8 second in 13th and 16th place.
The under 15 girls continued the theme of fantastic packing by the 3 AFD teams. The A team (Ruby Horton, Alice Garner and Pippa Roessler) had a great run to come in 2nd the B team came in 20th and the C team in 28th.
The Under 17 Men A team did a business job on winning the race Marcus Shantry came in 6th on the highly competatve first leg just 12 seconds behind the leader, Luke Vanoudtshoorn ran the 3rd fastest leg of the day to bring AFD in the lead and Max Hayden maintained that lead to give AFD the gold medal. In a field of 57 complete teams AFD B team was 14th and the C team 23rd.
In the Ladies under 17 race AFD A team was 12th from 42 complete teams.
The Senior mens race had 82 teams completing the course. Luke Prior had the responsability of leading of AFD A team and came in 21st, he handed over to Gus Cockle, then Josh Grace, Ellis Cross Joe Morwood with Jonny Hay bring the team home in 4th place (3rd English Team), with the second team in 10th place (the first B team).
The womens senior A team was lead of by Katty Bingle in 3rd place, Philippa on the 2nd leg brought AFD in in 1st place a place maintained by Emelia Gorecka on 3rd leg leaving Louise Small to cross the finish line first. AFD B team came in 6th, running for the B team Amy Griffiths showed her return to form by producing the 3rd fastest time of the day.
The Senior Ladies have now won 10 championship in the past 11 years
