Danish runner Anna Moller, who competed for Aldershot Farnham & District at the National Road Relays in the spring, retained her under-23s title at the European Cross Country Championships in Portugal on Sunday.  Based at St Mary’s College in Twickenham, where she is coached by Mick Woods, her victory was achieved with the biggest winning margin of the day, 39 seconds.  Despite finishing fifteenth in the senior women’s race, AFD’s Amy Griffiths was not part of the British trio that won the team event.

An AFD athlete who narrowly missed a place on the GB team for Lisbon was Maisie Grice.  She was seventh in the trials, three seconds behind Cera Gemmell (Team East Lothian) who ended up seventeenth in the European u20s event.  Instead Grice contested Saturday’s South of England Inter Counties meeting at Oxford where she was the overall winner, beating all the seniors as she led Hampshire to victory in the u20s’ category.  Her club mate Pippa Roessler led Surrey to a clean sweep of the podium places in the u17 women’s competition.
