Border League Match 1 Results‏

Well after a few issues – the results are finally in – and are with the team managers. Really well done to all who took part – from the feedback everyone enjoyed their day and the club certainly did very well!!

Following on from some concerns on the day; two things to bear in mind for next time please. One, can parents/athletes avoid congregating near or around the race scorers – there were difficulties in recording numbers and times with all the cheering (but don’t stop cheering!!) and two, please see the bit below from the Chair of the Border League concerning ‘behaviour’ – although I’m sure none of our athletes were involved with this.

“Well done to AFD for running a good match, & we hope that the athletes enjoyed the courses.

Can we all have a word with our athletes please, both now & a reminder before the matches on December 11th, to reaffirm that XC is a ‘non-contact’ sport! I received quite a few comments, & some complaints today, mainly regarding the U9′s & U11′s boys races. In the U9′s both parents & marshals were aware of boys grabbing other boys vests & pulling them backwards, & worse still in the U11′s, two boys were deliberately elbowed so hard in the stomach, that one was physically sick & had to drop out of the race, & the other was winded by it badly enough to have to stop for a minute before he could breathe properly again to restart running.”

So many thanks to everyone who took part – hope to see you all again on the 11th December – same place but different course. Details will follow as soon as we have them.
