Alder Valley League – Girls
Eton, Sunday, 10th April 2011
Thames Valley Athletics, Pococks Lane, Eton, West Berkshire SL4 6HN
Thank you to everyone who came and took part on Sunday, and an especial thanks go to those athletes who had a go at events, the extra points you picked up helped the club a great deal on Sunday. We managed to cover most events which is a first for us, so credit to everyone.
Well the results are in and we were piped to 5th place, the scores are as follows:
- Reading 522
- Windsor 459.5
- Guildford 349
- Basingstoke 337.5
- Aldershot 337
- Bracknell 244.5
- Hillingdon 238.5
- Camberley 236.5
- Maidenhead 64.5
This is a great start for us. We didn’t have our strongest team out as many of you were away on holiday, and some athletes were not in the correct placing to maximize your efforts. We will be putting together the next team from the power 10 results and in all cases will put the strongest person out as A string, we will look at developing the AA (B) string, so this may be done on a rotation basis to get the best results i.e. those with similar times will be given opportunities. The non-scoring athletes MUST be considered as the developmental squad who will be moved into scoring positions as they improve. This is NOT a closed competition; everyone has a chance of being in the scoring team as they improve through the season.
There were a couple of PB’s on Sunday so congratulations go to Roz Hawkins U17 high jump with a score of 1.50, Abi Harrington U15 high jump with a score of 1.30 and Kia Watson U15 200m with a time of 28.6. These are the ones I know about so apologies if any others got PB’s and are not mentioned.
Just a quick thanks to the coaches, George and John High Jump, Gemma Long Jump, Mike Intermediate group and Debs Hurdles for coming along, supporting your athletes and the Club. And to Alan for taking down all the scores.
I know many of you have given us your availability for the next match which is on 26 June at Guildford but please do confirm this and we will put out a reminder neared the time. The team list and non scoring sheets will be put together on the Tue/Thurs evenings the week before the competition and sent out on the Friday. There will be no changes after this time except to add non scoring athletes, so if you want to be considered for specific events we must know before the Tuesday.
Thanks again to everyone for Sunday
Regards
Stephanie
